Our first Firewalk event success!
On Thursday 22nd October, we successfully delivered our very first Firewalk event. Hosted by our long-standing supporters, The Bull at Berkhamsted, 32 brave participants kicked off their shoes and socks and prepared to take on the burning coals on a crisp autumn evening.
The fire was lit at 7pm by Oli from The Bull, while participants took part in a training session led by Scott Bell of UK Firewalk. As a two-time Firewalk Guinness World Record holder, Scott’s expertise and encouragement ensured everyone felt confident and ready to face the challenge.
Meanwhile, supporters gathered to cheer on the walkers, enjoying delicious food and drinks served by The Bull. The atmosphere was full of excitement, anticipation and determination as participants prepared for their moment. We are delighted to say that every single person who registered successfully completed the firewalk, with some even returning for a second walk across the hot coals!
Special thanks go to the High Sheriff of Hertfordshire and four of our dedicated Hertfordshire Mind Trustees, who were among the first to sign up and support the event.
Together, participants and supporters have raised more than £11,000 so far, an incredible achievement. Funds raised through events like this help us ensure our mental health services remain accessible, well-resourced and available to those who need them most across Hertfordshire.
This year’s success is just the beginning. Plans are already underway for our 2027 Firewalk, and we’d love to see even more people step up to the challenge and join us next time!
